Ok Google Can Stevie Wonder See Again
Life is a Stevie Wonder Song
This is a short, quirky, somewhat whimsical and quite delightful sexual enkindling and May to December romance rolled into one. I honestly wasn't certain where it was going when I first started reading it and, for a time, I don't think the story quite did either equally Stephen's attraction to Declan did seem to come from nowhere. Declan'southward own behaviour was a tad strange merely information technology did fit into the character of a much younger dreamer with his fey photography and idealistic experiences. All in all though a quick read which was enjoyable and a flake different. This is a re-release and it has a lovely new comprehend. I don't believe there's whatsoever changes to the text though. ETA: The lovely VL Locey has let me know there is a new Epilogue :) #ARC kindly provided by the writer in return for an honest and unbiased review.
You're a 45 year-old author with three failed marriages under your belt, and a pressing deadline to end your latest "Mick Dell" (recollect James Bond) mega-seller .... but you've lost your mojo. What do you do? You actually listen to your 20-yr-old daughter and spend the summer at Whispering Pines Creative Campground, some sort of summer army camp in upstate New York, to go in touch with nature and find your "muse" ..... although you know it'southward some goddamn hippy commune in the Catskills at the end of 10 miles of unpaved road. When Steven Ramsey arrives at "Camp Acrid Trip", he becomes besotted with Declan, a lean beau of 22 who is a photographer of fey things (foggy lakes, leaves thin every bit pixie wings, fairy rings (mushrooms) in the wood lit by moonbeams), and all of a sudden (as in two sentences) realizes exactly why his 3 marriages failed. The summer dissolves into a series of hot, oh so hot nights of passion, with a background of tunes on vinyl by Stevie Wonder, Fleetwood Mac, Elton John, hence the proper noun of the book. For a novella of about lxxx pages, the story was skillful, but a bit too compact to get actually to know Declan or explore what happens next and the ending is abrupt. Merely any book that contains sentences like .... "What I had been writing for the past 2 days was literary vomit, if I were being honest. Information technology was stream-of-consciousness crap for sure, a 15-page run-on judgement subconscious nether the regurgitation of masticated wordage" .... is all right by me.
This was sweet...really, really sweetness and I'll exist back to chat nearly it more...soonish, of course! Sorry, I'm on the movement right at present and the reading is a niggling easier to accomplish than the reviewing simply I'll go there...I promise! May ten/18 Update: finally my review for this little gem... Who doesn't know the words to at least one song by Stevie Wonder... While I'm still not a big fan of stories where there'due south an age gap between the MCs and past age gap I mean x years or more than. I really enjoyed this one. Stephen Ramsey is a successful 45 yr old writer who'south lost his muse. He'due south been married 3 times and has a college aged daughter who thinks he needs to try something different and wants him to go to a retreat for the summer...non having any better ideas he decides to give it a try and heads off for basically the middle of nowhere to discover his muse and commune with nature. What he finds is 22 year one-time Declan Pomeroy a photography student who piques his involvement and has him totally enchanted. While I oasis't read a lot of stories by this writer I have to admit this one had a slightly dissimilar tone to the writing and I enjoyed it. At times it felt a little rambly and disjointed merely at times life can exist a flake rambly (yes, rambly's a discussion...ok, maybe i only made it one but hey how do you recall all these other words came to exist?) and disjointed so really why can't stories reflect that aspect of the existent world if information technology works and in this case for this reader it worked. There'south a 22 year age gap between these 2 men and I accept admit for me that's stretching things...I mean seriously we've gone from "who's your daddy?" to "I could be your father...literally I could be your father" and sometimes that'due south a niggling more than than I'1000 comfy with but there were sure things that really helped to offset this for me taking it from a story that could have been 'eewwww and creepy' to a story that was sweet and I enjoyed. So let'south see if I can explain what went right for me... 1st is the fact that information technology was Declan who basically did the pursuing. Which for me can brand a huge departure. Information technology made this a story nigh 2 men who were interested in each other exploring a relationship and it outset the imbalance of power that I oft feel when information technology's the older human being who does the pursuing. Especially when the older human being is established in his career and has the corporeality of human relationship experience that Stephen has. 2nd I liked that Declan didn't loose sight of his goals and what he wanted out of life for himself when information technology came to a career. While Declan may not take totally had his life together neither was he anyone'southward pushover who was going to become some mindless little neophyte. If annihilation in some means I felt like Declan was what some people would call an 'former soul'. Just merely in some ways in other ways he had a certain sweetness and innocence about him. 3rd I enjoyed the interactions between these two. In general this pairing worked for me both in and out of the chamber. I realize that Stephen suddenly realizing he's bisexual at the historic period of 45 may seem like a stretch or even a bit preposterous to some but honestly I had a honey friend who was in their 50s when had the aforementioned realization so for me it didn't seem then unlikely of an issue. 4th I really liked the way the author wove music into this story. I think a lot of us could probably create our own 'life play list' without a lot of attempt and I know for me a number of the songs in this book would exist on my playlist so I recollect in hindsight that my connection to this story started with the music... I haven't done this in a while but this story basically begged for information technology and I found that at the end of it all for Stephen and Declan it was a Stevie Wonder song...'Overjoyed'... ************************* An ARC of "Life is a Stevie Wonder Song' was graciously provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. And though you lot don't believe that they do
This 1 was short, sugariness and fun to read. Then if you're in the mood for something that's non complicated but definitely enjoyable then load up your Stevie Wonder playlist and curly upwards for an hour or two of light amusement with 'Life is a Stevie Wonder Song'.
They practice come true
For did my dreams
Come up true when I looked at yous
And perhaps too, if y'all would believe
Y'all too might be
Overjoyed, over dear, over me.
Life is a Stevie Wonder Song past 5.50. Locey V.L. Locey's Life is a Stevie Wonder Vocal is a thoughtful story that is total of a man'due south cocky-discovery. This contemporary adult novella takes place in New York City and Catskill, NY. The story is told from the viewpoint of all-time-selling writer Stephen Ramsey, who has lost his muse. He has gone through 3 divorces and has been unmotivated in writing his next spy novel. His daughter suggests he goes on a summer retreat in the Catskill Mountains to reignite his writing. There he meets college photography student, Declan Pomeroy, a free spirit that has him reevaluating his life. V.L. Locey created a wonderfully well-written and cogitating story. The characters are likable and deep. I enjoyed the humor. I beloved that the much older Stephen is open up-minded and learns a few things from Declan. Declan is a very arty photographer who has a fantastic vision. He sees and feels the magic of nature. I could film his work in my head and wish I could see information technology in real life. I dearest that Declan does not await at things in terms of labels. The ii are very unlike people just complement each other. Life is a Stevie Wonder Song is a terrific curt story that I read in one sitting. Complimentary copy provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. Merged review: Five.L. A really cute enjoyable GFY story virtually an author whose muse has vanished. Steven's life has taken it's price. He has spent the advance he had to write a book that hasn't been started and the empty page on his laptop is more sparse than ever. His girl suggests he takes himself abroad from New York to seek new experiences, and he takes her proposition to heart.
Whilst away he meets Declan, a photography pupil one-half his historic period. Absorbed by the immature man they brainstorm a lovely relationship of discovery, merely Steven has to decide what he really wants earlier they can find their HEA.
The MCs were both easy to understand, though I related more than to Steven, probably as he is closer to my age. Declan's personality shone through the book lighting up the world of those around him. A lovely story, cheers
This was a actually sweet story, one time things started getting figured out and Steven permit go. I had to express mirth, though, because I felt so onetime reading this. The vinyl records, the older music, considered classics now. The kids nowadays take no clue. And information technology was nifty me upwards every bit Declan was trying to figure out who these people were. http://lovebytesreviews.com/
Steven has been floundering trying to write his next book in his spy series. He feels dried up. Like he can't come up up with one more give-and-take. So his publisher suggests he go somewhere to effort to unwind from the latest divorce and writer's cake. When his girl suggests a place in the Catskills, he doesn't programme on going until something changes his mind. What he doesn't expect is that he's not getting anywhere in his writing at this identify. It's so state. He's frustrated and decides to take a intermission, and meets a young man who changes his life. Declan is a young student and photographer, and has such a zest for life, Steven tin't help but exist drawn in to him. And has him questioning everything near himself. Only his writing is dorsum and has taken a unlike turn. 1 that doesn't take his publisher happy. But all Steven knows, is he needs Declan in his life for skillful, but when summer is over, he loses what he had. And now he has to decide what is more than important in his life.
Declan is merely the sweetest. I dear his zest for life. The fashion he photographs everything. The fashion it was described, yous felt like you were looking at what he was shooting or shot. It was astonishing. Just I dearest the manner he loves too. He jumps into everything with both feet. It doesn't mean he doesn't get hurt. He does. Jumping in with both feet can take its repercussions. Just he still does everything with all that'south in him. And it's a breath of fresh air. I love him. And he's perfect for Steven. Because he gets Steven out of his comfort zone. He shows a new life to Steven that he needed then bad. Not but for his piece of work, merely for his life. He needed someone to show him there's more to life than being grumpy and not living life. And Declan gave Steven the boost he needed.
It's a good piddling story. Non real long, simply information technology's what's needed.
This is a sweet novella from the wonderful heed of V.L. Locey. We accept a bestselling author, Stephan Ramsey, and he's got killer author's block. Something authors know first hand. Sometimes you can suspension through the wall. Other times you need a push and so when Stephan's daughters tells him to take a vacation to the Catskill Mountains... he does. Enter free bird photographer Declan Pomeroy... Yup sometimes inspiration comes in the class of a person and for Stephan it turns out the where isn't what'due south going to assistance him, it's the who. These are 2 opposites that get together. They compliment each other and I really loved watching them collaborate.
Bully dialog and flow. The characters were defines and it was crisp writing. I wish it was longer but information technology was a wonderful little story!!
Stephen has lost his muse... So his girl comes up with a thought of him going to a summer campsite for the creative soul. That is where he meets Declan a photographer he is attracted to.. This was a brusk book and so I will not go to much into information technology... This Novella was so good and I really loved these two men together. It did feel a footling rushed to me but I nevertheless actually liked this story and loved the way this author wrote these characters! At that place is a historic period gap between Stephen and Declan just I really loved it how they were with each other! And then I will leave this review with.... I actually similar this Novella! I received this book free in exchange for an honest review from Inked Rainbow Reads.
I would recommend this!
This was a bit of harmless fantasy which I was kind of enjoying in a mindless way but the last twenty pages or and so did manage to annoy me. The story such as information technology is had one of my favorite tropes: older/younger. Problem is yous can't look at this even at eye distance because nil is explained. The fact that Steve, the older author, is attracted to the younger man needs no caption. He'due south a sprite like creature and in the midst of a summertime idle quite appealing. However what Declan, the fae man-kid, sees in Steve is anyone'south guess. Too much was elided and we'll say nothing of the fact that this thrice heterosexually married, John Le Carré blazon author has no coin and questions his new constitute bisexuality for virtually 0.5 seconds. It is a brusque story and no time for heavy angst but cipher is only ... wow! Bonus points though for no bi erasure with that GFY nonsense. If you lot have an hour to impale this won't hurt you only be clear that it is sheer summer fantasy. Sometimes that's not a bad thing.
